Old Trail School’s library provides materials and instruction
to support all areas of the curriculum. It also provides a wide variety
of books and stories for pleasure reading and listening, including picture
books, novels, and nonfiction topics. The library promotes information
literacy skills for Old Trail students, faculty, staff, and parents.
A person who is information literate recognizes a need for information,
knows how to locate, access, and use information, and can communicate
his/her new knowledge in appropriate ways. To this end, we collaborate
with classroom teachers to utilize a research model which increases in
complexity as students move to higher grades. We introduce print and
electronic resources that are selected to fit the learner’s age
and ability, and the purpose of his/her task.
