Performing Arts
Curriculum

Old Trail School’s performing arts program is a child-centered curriculum that engages students of all learning styles. We provide sequenced and thematic activities to develop the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domain of the learners in preschool through eighth grade.  The performing arts department fosters academic excellence, personal development, confidence, and social responsibility.

In preschool through fourth grade, the performing arts curriculum uses methodology including Orff Schulwerk, Kodaly, and Dalcroze, along with traditional music education as the basis for the program.  In fourth grade we add exploration of the diverse sampling of strings, soprano recorders, and dulcimers, with additional options in fifth grade of band (flute, clarinet, trumpet, French horn, and trombone), piano lab, and handchimes.  By sixth grade, instrument experimentation expands to include string bass, oboe, saxophone, and baritone.
