Mission

Old Trail School is dedicated to educating boys and girls by developing a strong academic foundation, a respect for themselves and others and a love of learning. Nestled in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the School provides a comprehensive curriculum with a commitment to academic excellence, service learning and global sustainability. In partnership with families, Old Trail School engages and nurtures our diverse community of students as they navigate childhood and early adolescence, to emerge as thoughtful, compassionate and constructive citizens with integrity and confidence.

Core Values

The School’s four Core Values – Respect, Responsibility, Goodness and Service – are woven into the fabric of an Old Trail School education including: curriculum, extracurricular activities, advisory time, assemblies, special events and communications. Core values instruction begins with our youngest students and is incorporated into the curriculum at all grade levels throughout the school year.

Respect - All members of our community, adults and children alike, deserve to be valued for their unique qualities. We show respect by being kind and polite and listening to other points of view.

Responsibility - Responsibility means taking charge of ourselves. Responsible people are trustworthy and make good decisions. We also have a social responsibility, which means helping to make the world a better place.

Goodness - Being good means holding firm when those around us shift. Goodness is demonstrated through integrity, honesty and kindness.

Service - Students are active members of society, learning about relationships among people in our School, the greater community and the world.
