Honorary Alumni Award
The Honorary Alumni Award is presented to a person who has made an important contribution or given extraordinary service to Old Trail School. The award will be presented on June 2, 2013 as part of Alumni Reunion Weekend.
Judy Brookhart
2013 Recipient
After growing up in New Jersey and spending college years at the College of Wooster, Judy spent her junior year abroad in Madrid, Spain. It was there that she met a tall blond Kansan, who became her husband. Judy and Jack’s early years together included a three-year stint in the Army, in Monterey, California; the birth of their children Josh and Melissa; six years living in Brussels, Belgium; and a return to the state of Judy’s college years, Ohio. During those years, Judy was a teacher and upon her return to Ohio she attended Kent State University where she earned a master’s degree in education.
She is forever grateful to Peter Wilson, former Old Trail School headmaster, who hired her in 1981. From that point until her retirement in 2012, Judy loved working at Old Trail School. She wore many hats, including fourth grade teacher, creator and director of the service learning program, Director of Admission and Assistant to the Head of School for Special Projects. Retirement keeps Judy very busy, as she is studying the dulcimer, and has become a guardian ad litem for the Summit County juvenile court. The three words that she holds closest to her heart all begin with F – family (especially her six grandchildren), friends and faith!
