Despite all the darkness in our world today, Grade 8 student Hayden Voth decided to be a light by creating a fundraiser to benefit a local business and the courageous healthcare professionals who are risking their lives on the frontlines every day.
For his fundraiser, he chose Rizzi's Ristorante & Pizzeria in Copley and Akron Children's Hospital.
"Our community, our state, our country and the whole world are going through hard times," Hayden said. "Instead of focusing on the negative, I want to be positive and work to help people in this time of need. My classmates and I are truly blessed. In this time of struggle, we can all try to help others. So many small businesses are going through hard times."
In just a matter of weeks, Hayden hit his fundraising goal of $3,000! Hayden used the money to purchase meals from Rizzi's, then delivered the food to Akron Children's Hospital yesterday.
"Our physical selves should be isolated, but our thoughts and ideas should be the opposite," he said. "So many small businesses are going through hard times. The least we can do, as young and helpful students, is to aid these struggling families and their businesses."
Thank you, Hayden, for reminding us that kindness is a choice and that there are many creative ways to make others feel appreciated and supported.
