Grade 5 Connects Classroom to Nature at Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center

Grade 5 Connects Classroom to Nature at Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center

Rooted in our mission, Grade 5's annual trip to Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center (CVEEC) provides students the chance to connect with their peers, engage in hands-on learning, and explore the beauty of the natural world.

This year’s program centered on watersheds, allowing students to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world applications. Through interactive, hands-on learning, they explored the vital role watersheds play in ecosystems, discovering how water systems influence both local communities and the natural environment. From water testing in the Cuyahoga River to observing the macroinvertebrates living in our water systems, students gained a deeper appreciation for environmental science and the interconnectedness of the world around them.

Beyond academic exploration, the trip offered numerous opportunities for team building. Students participated in group hikes, outdoor activities, and team-building exercises, fostering communication and problem-solving skills. These experiences not only enriched their understanding of nature but also encouraged them to rely on one another, building strong, lasting friendships in the process.

We are excited to see how the lessons learned and connections made at CVEEC continue to shape our students' growth throughout the year!
