Old Trail School’s second graders recently completed an extraordinary adventure through the innovative "OTS Airlines" project, a highlight of the Grade 2 Geography curriculum designed to bring the world to life in the classroom. With passports in hand, our young travelers "flew" to a different continent each week, exploring far-off lands without ever leaving campus.
The journey began with a full "travel" experience, starting with passport certification and a security check before students boarded their imaginary plane. Each week, they received a passport stamp for the destination and learned about local customs and culture through simulated takeoffs, in-flight videos, and snacks. This creative approach not only excited students about learning but also helped them develop a meaningful understanding of the world's diversity.
To capture each leg of their journey, students documented their experiences in a personalized scrapbook, filled with photos, drawings and reflections from each "destination." This scrapbook became a treasured keepsake and will be showcased at Old Trail’s year-end Exploration Expo, giving parents and the school community a glimpse into the children’s global adventures.
