OTS Graduate Cultivates Sustainable Impact at WRA

OTS Graduate Cultivates Sustainable Impact at WRA

At Old Trail School, we often talk about giving students the roots to grow and the wings to explore. OTS alumna Lydia Lockwood ’22 is a perfect example of that promise in action—and how it blossoms into meaningful work beyond our campus.

After graduating from Old Trail, Lydia took her love of gardening, sustainability and hands-on stewardship to her next chapter at Western Reserve Academy. This past summer, she undertook a project on the WRA hilltop garden, tending the raised beds at the cross-country hill just past the hockey pond.

You can read more about Lydia's transformative project on WRA's website.

Lydia’s journey shows how an OTS education translates into authentic, real-world engagement. When students leave us, they carry with them curiosity, stewardship, initiative—and the confidence to seek out opportunities, raise their hand and create something meaningful. Her story is also an invitation: whether it’s garden beds at OTS, composting systems, or growing a new initiative, students are empowered to act locally and think globally.
