As Martin Luther King Jr. Day draws near, Old Trail School is introducing an inspiring new event aimed at bringing the school community together to honor the remarkable legacy of Dr. King. On Monday, January 20, from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m., families are invited to join us for our first-ever MLK Community Day Pancake Breakfast, a gathering designed to promote reflection, connection and unity through service and celebration.
To prepare appropriately and ensure food for all attendees, families are asked to submit this registration form by Friday, January 10. All students from Early Childhood through Grade 5 must be accompanied by an adult, while middle school student volunteers may be dropped off.
The morning will feature middle school student volunteers who will present insights they have gained about our valued community partners, Haven of Rest and Valor Home, two local organizations dedicated to serving those in need. In addition to sharing reflections on Dr. King’s work and its ongoing impact at Old Trail, the students will help sort and prepare items collected during our donation drive for delivery.
“This reimagined day offers our community a chance to come together in a joyful, reflective way, while fostering connection, gratitude, and a sense of shared purpose,” said OTS Head of School Sarah Johnston.
We look forward to seeing you at this inaugural event. Together, let’s honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through community, reflection and action!
