Old Trail Graduate to Perform at Shining Star Cleveland

OTS graduate Alexandra Newman '20 has been named one of 10 Northeast Ohio high school finalists to perform at Shining Star CLE. The prestigious vocal competition will be held at Playhouse Square's Mimi Ohio Theatre this Sunday at 7 p.m.

Alex, who is currently a junior at Western Reserve Academy, rose to the top in a field of nearly 150 students from nine counties and 73 high schools during the audition process. She placed third in the Shining Star Cleveland competition last year.

A panel of celebrity judges will select the top four finalists Sunday evening. Audience members will then vote to determine who will win $10,000, $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000 in college scholarships. Plus, the high school with the top finisher will receive $2,500 for its music department.

Tickets may be purchased directly through Playhouse Square at playhousesquare.org.

Shining Star CLE works to celebrate the up-and-coming singing talent of Northeast Ohio while bringing strong voices to the need for funds that help create innovative programs and tools for people with memory loss through Menorah Park in Beachwood, Ohio.
