OTS Academic Challenge Team Shines

Old Trail School’s Academic Challenge Team delivered its strongest performance to date last weekend, finishing with an impressive 6-1 record and earning second place in their bracket.

The team’s only loss came against the undefeated Revere A team, capping off a day that showcased not only their knowledge but also their growing confidence and teamwork. With each competition this season, the students have continued to build momentum, demonstrating poise under pressure and a deep commitment to preparation. Many schools throughout Northeast Ohio compete in Academic Challenge tournaments, and as part of this middle school elective, Old Trail students test their skills in local competitions throughout the season.

Academic Challenge is a fast-paced quiz bowl competition in which teams go head-to-head, answering questions from across the academic spectrum—history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports and more. A defining feature of the game is the “buzzer system,” which allows players to interrupt the reading of a question when they know the answer, adding confidence, anticipation and rapid recall to the competition.

We congratulate our Academic Challenge team members and Mrs. Horn on an outstanding performance and weekend for Old Trail School!
