Physical Education and Athletics are important elements in the overall education of our well-rounded students. Participating on athletic teams provides students with an opportunity to extend learning from inside our classrooms to our fields, tennis courts, running trails and swimming pool.

Old Trail School’s physical education curriculum allows for optimal participation by students in traditional and nontraditional athletic activities. Students are included in activities regardless of their experience and skills. Students in all grades are taught basic skills, concepts and strategies of games and competitive sports while learning to demonstrate respect and good sportsmanship on and off the playing field.

Students in Grades 7 and 8 are offered the ability to participate on interscholastic teams with meaningful and substantial playing time. These students will practice with their teams during physical education periods and are coached by skilled and knowledgeable members of the Old Trail School faculty. Students can also elect to participate in non-competitive physical education activities. These activities do not require after school team participation.

Students are encouraged to take risks and play multiple sports, and we are proud that more than 90% of our Middle School students play on at least one school-sponsored athletic team.

Students in Grades 7 and 8 may select from a variety of sports and activities that are both competitive and non-competitive. See lists by grading period below:
