We are open and welcome in person tours! Please contact our admission office to schedule a time for your family to discover more about Old Trail School; all visits and tours will comply with CDC and Ohio Department of Health madates for social distancing, with hand sanitizing and masks required for all adults and older children.  Families will tour the building, see classrooms, and experience our ample outdoor space.  Meetings and conversations will take place in our outdoor learning spaces.  We look forward to welcoming your family to campus soon.

  • Open Houses

    Open House offers families a wonderful opportunity to  learn more about the benefit of an Old Trail experience during your child's most important years. Families will learn more about our commitment to a transformational student experience from our Head of School, chat with current parents about their experiences and speak with faculty members on a tour guided by a Middle School Student Ambassador. Learn how project based learning can support your child’s desire for more challenging curriculum, ask questions about our on-campus farm and new Outdoor Classroom, our dedication to sustainability and our Flexible Tuition program. Children are welcome to attend.

  • Family Tours - July 2020

    Parents and Guardians are encouraged to schedule an individual tour with a member of the Old Trail School Admission Team.  Tours, which take place during the school day, will visit classrooms, allowing parents to see firsthand how our student-centered approach creates engaged, curious learners.

    During the month of July Old Trail School will host family tours on Thursday, July 9 and Thursday, July 23, from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.  To allow for proper social distancing, appointments are required and masks must be worn by adults and older children.

  • Student Shadow Days, Grades 1-8

    Students entering grades 1-8 spend a full day visiting classes at Old Trail School, which can be scheduled at any time. Guests join current students for classes and lunch, allowing them to meet our teachers, experience our approach to hands-on and interdisciplinary learning, and feel how friendly and welcoming the Old Trail School community is.  Parents are encouraged to tour and meet with the Admission team during the morning of the shadow day visit.  To schedule a shadow day please contact Jacquie Matheny or call  330-666-1118 x312.
  • Screening & Testing

    Student testing or observations are an integral part of the admission process, and allow Old Trail to better understand your child as a learner.
     
    Early Childhood Program Play Dates (application required)

    Our youngest students applying for the Early Childhood Program will visit Old Trail School for a playdate.  The playdate allows our faculty to observe children in an informal setting.

    Kindergarten Screening (application required)
    Old Trail School administers a Kindergarten readiness screening for all applicants.  This includes one-on-one testing and an opportunity for play.

    Middle School Testing 

    Students applying to Grades 1-8 may submit ISEE or ERB scores.  Additional testing will be administered by Old Trail faculty, either remotely or individually in person, as part of the application process.
  • Admission Drop In

    A very casual opportunity to visit the School the first time in a low-pressure, informal manner during the school year. Take a tour of campus, chat with students and faculty, meet Admission Office staff members and learn how an Old Trail School education can benefit your child. Children are welcome to attend.

  • Important Deadlines

    Old Trail School is currently accepting applications on a rolling basis.  All completed admission applications will be reviewed by the Admission Committee, which will make admission decisions within two weeks of the applicaiton completion.  Families will have two weeks to respond to the admission acceptance offer.
Old Trail School is an independent day school (toddler through grade eight) located in the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
