The best way to learn more about Old Trail School is to attend an Open House event.

Our next Open House for prospective students age 2 to Grade 8 is Thursday, November 14 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. During your visit, parents can expect to learn about Old Trail School's unique approach to:

  • Experiential Learning: While rote memorization and recall of information remain the norm in many school settings, we believe that meaningful and unforgettable learning experiences are the greatest educators.
  • Educating the Whole Child: Old Trail's comprehensive view of the child leads to an education that fosters healthy social-emotional and physical development, creativity and kindness.
  • Student Leadership: Research shows that middle school students perform better when they are part of a K-8 environment that provides context for their growth, offers opportunities to be role models, and is not overshadowed by a high school.

Years Become Life

These years change everything.

The time to invest in your child’s education is from the early stages of development through preadolescence, when their cognitive, social and physical growth happens most rapidly. At Old Trail, age-appropriate academic challenge begins at age 2 and progresses through Grade 8 when it matters most.

The best teachers have the biggest hearts.

When it comes to academic potential, the most important factor in a child’s success is the quality of their teacher. Our 8:1 student–teacher ratio allows teachers to know each child and how far they can go.

Happy children learn better.

A whole-child approach to education yields healthy social-emotional and physical development, creativity, kindness, and academic achievement. At Old Trail, a comprehensive view of each child ensures children are happy, engaged and successful.

Growth must take place inside and out.

The environment surrounding a child has a great effect on their capacity to learn and grow. Our location on 62 acres in a national park provides unparalleled learning opportunities and a tranquil setting in which to grow.

Deciding on Old Trail School for our children was making a commitment—to their educational experience in the best atmosphere for learning, among a group of faculty who are committed to teaching a love of learning and parents who are committed to supporting the school through active involvement.

Old Trail is the stage that set me up for almost all of my future educational and social endeavors; both the successes and challenges. The strong values placed around community and creative thinking at OTS have helped fundamentally shape my personal and professional life.

Old Trail provided the educational foundation for my children's intellectual development, their character as adults, their open-mindedness and curiosity about the world, their understanding of their role as citizens of the US and of the world, and their subsequent success in life.  Old Trail provided the education to my children that I wish for all children.
