Old Trail School graduates who apply to prominent independent and private high schools have a 94% average acceptance rate. Our alumni continue to thrive in high school and Old Trail School provides a full-service Secondary Schools Placement Service to help them find the best school choice for their next step.
Students attend a variety of secondary schools including:
Independent day high schools
Boarding schools (nearby and out of state)
Catholic and Christian schools
Local public schools
We have a counselor available for families and students to help navigate the many excellent options. Also, we host a well-attended Secondary Schools Fair each Fall where approximately 40 schools come to recruit our students and promote their schools.
Secondary Schools Night 2019 will be held on Tuesday, September 24 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the School. This event is free and open to the public. Click here for a list of participating schools. Click here with questions.
Once students are ready to apply, we coach them about optimizing shadow day visits to their prospective high schools, provide preparation for entrance exams, guide them in getting recommendations completed as required from teachers and administrators, and organize and expedite all the paperwork including sending transcripts and ensuring that the recommendations are completed and sent ahead of deadlines. As acceptances come in, we help the students and their parents make final decisions and guide the students to appropriately and sensitively celebrate one another's choices.
One of the most valuable outcomes of an Old Trail School education is success at the next level. We pride ourselves on setting every step in place to get our students there.
Old Trail School is an independent day school (toddler through grade eight) located in the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
