Old Trail Welcomes Home Former Educators

We were delighted to welcome back an intimate gathering of retired OTS faculty and staff members to campus this morning.
The group – which collectively served Old Trail for a remarkable 242 years! – was recognized at Community Assembly, reconnected and reminisced over coffee with Head of School Sarah Johnston and several other current staff members, then took a tour of the school.
Joining us were:

  • Joanna Bird (school psychologist,1990-2002)
  • Judy Brookhart (teacher, director of admission, service learning coordinator, 1981-2008; special assistant to Head of School, 2010-12)
  • Kathy Fry (kindergarten teacher, 1983-98; part-time assistant, 1998-2000)
  • Mary Johnson (grade 5 teacher, 1987-2016)
  • Margaret (Margy) Liske (librarian, 1984-2003)
  • Vickie Nagel (performing arts teacher, 1974-2017)
  • Jancie Newhouse (grade 4 teacher, 1986-97; grade 5 teacher, 2008-10)
  • Jodi Palumbo (kindergarten and grades 3 and 6 teacher, 1976-94; director of admission, 1994-97)
  • Karen Patterson (English and social studies teacher, 1982-2005)
  • Penelope (Penny) Thompson (grade 2 teacher, 1981-2006)
  • Marilyn Wilson (substitute teacher, 1997-99; grade 7 language arts teacher, 2004-11)
Included in the group were six recipients of the Catherine Silver McNamara Award (presented annually to recognize outstanding service to student achievement ) as well as six individuals who served the school for 20 or more years! We were honored to recognize these outstanding educators and their immeasurable contributions to our school community!

Old Trail School is an independent day school (toddler through grade eight) located in the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
