Benefit Auction to Be Held at Akron Art Museum

This year's Old Trail School benefit auction, Celebration 2020, will be held at the Akron Art Museum, Associate Head of School Joe Vogel announced Thursday.
Celebration 2020 is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. The annual auction serves as the school's largest fundraising event of the year and supports all aspects of the Old Trail School student experience.

"As we are on the verge of our centennial, I think there is no better place for our auction than in the heart of a reemerging city that has shaped and been shaped by Old Trail School," Vogel said. "This evening will allow us to reflect on the unique relationship OTS has with the museum and how it serves, in countless ways, as an additional classroom filled with creativity, inspiration, and thought-provoking pieces."

The unique venue will also present an opportunity to showcase Old Trail's exceptional visual arts program – both with student artwork on display and the school's expert instructors, Patty Wyman, Jeff Eason, and Kathy Sapienza, serving as guides in the galleries before the auction begins.

Other highlights of the evening will include live entertainment, dinner and cocktails, and the reason for the event – the silent and live auctions. Proceeds raised will support student engagement through innovation and class enrichment programs, supplementing special projects, and contributing to the professional development of faculty and staff. The focus of this year's Fund-An-Item will be to raise money to support the complete transformation of our playgrounds to nature-based playscapes.

More details about Celebration 2020 will be shared as we near the event, including how to register and the many ways in which families can participate.
Old Trail School is an independent day school (toddler through grade eight) located in the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
