OTS Graduate Shares Start-Up Experience with Intermediate Students

OTS graduate and founder of Peaceful Fruits Evan Delahanty '99 was our special guest Tuesday morning.
Evan spoke to Intermediate students about entrepreneurship and shared how his two-year, Peace Corp experience in the Amazon rainforest served as the inspiration for his highly successful enterprise, which was featured on Shark Tank in 2017.

"The first thing you have to do as an entrepreneur is to try," Evan told the children. "Figure out a way to get started, then get your product out to people to see what they think."

Evan, who is a graduate of Cornell University, stressed to the children the importance of persistence and determination when starting a business or trying something new. He also emphasized how important it was for his organization to have a mission that was both socially and globally responsible.

Peaceful Fruits is attempting to change the fruit snack industry by creating fruit snacks that are simply made out of real fruit – no concentrates, no sugars, no corn syrups. Its fruit is sourced from sustainable harvesters in the Amazon rainforest and it employs adults with developmental disabilities. Many thanks for your inspiring visit today, Evan! All of us at OTS – including some future entrepreneurs who heard you speak today – wish you continued success!
