The mission of Girls on the Run is to "inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running."
Girls on the Run Northeast Ohio is a life-changing, nonprofit program that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Girls participate in lessons that cover topics including healthy eating habits, practicing kindness and gratitude, bullying, gossip and community service.
Physical activity is incorporated into each lesson, preparing the girls for a celebratory 5k running event. At the culmination of the program, each girl is more confident in her ability to set and reach goals, make positive decisions and walk away from bad influences. The goal is to encourage all participants to stand up for herself and for others and boldly pursue her dreams freely.
