Class of 2020 Spotlight: Carrie K.

To recognize the Old Trail Class of 2020, we will be showcasing Grade 8 students on our website and social media over the next several weeks. Today's spotlight is Carrie K.
Carrie has been at OTS for three years. She is just as comfortable on the stage as she is fly fishing and credits the teachers and staff at Old Trail for making her a more confident individual.

We asked her to reflect back on her time at Old Trail. Here are her responses:

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement at Old Trail? Why?
Getting the role of Wicked Witch of the West in this year's musical has been my greatest achievement. I love acting and I really wanted that role because it's outside my comfort zone and has expanded my acting skills. One of my favorite Broadway actresses played Elphaba in Wicked. I've always dreamt of being cast in a similar role! Fingers crossed that we still get to have a performance, my pretties!

What are some fun facts about you that people may not know?
I'm really into fly fishing and have caught (and released) several steelheads. I've fished in Northeast Ohio, California, Tennessee and North Carolina. It's fun and I try to learn something new every time I go!

What is your favorite Old Trail memory?
I have a lot of great memories! My favorite Old Trail memory is helping with preschool lunch because I've been able to bond with several younger students and have made a lot of preschool friends! It brightens my day to see them and talk about what's going on in their lives!

What will you miss most about Old Trail School?
I'll miss the kind and caring teachers and staff, they really understand me and are always willing to help. They push me to be my best and try new things. I don't think I'd have nearly the confidence I do today without their guidance and encouragement. I'm thankful for everything they do for our students and school community.

What advice would you give younger students at Old Trail?
The advice I'd give younger students is to experience things for yourself and just have fun! For example, I heard that the Tremont class trip was really hard. When I got there, I had a blast! We went on some amazing hikes and I got to learn more about my classmates and myself. Try new things, keep an open mind and have fun!
