Old Trail students from all divisions celebrated #WorldKindnessDay by participating in a number of activities aimed at connecting our core value of Goodness to the global theme of kindness last Friday.
From a Kindness Parade to a free sticker giveaway stand to using nature to spell out words of encouragement, kindness ruled the day!
Elsewhere in the school, grade 3 students read aloud personal notes of appreciation to their classmates, while grade 4 learners wrote letters of gratitude for the people they care about at home and at school and discussed the value of being a good person for no other good reason. Music students expressed ways they can be kind to others through vocal improvisations while middle school students were challenged to perform random acts of kindness, then write a piece to describe it.
Even Distance Learners participated with Mrs. McGowan's Intermediate School cohort sending e-cards to patients at Akron Children's Hospital and learning how to use American Sign Language to spell "be kind" and sign "kindness", "love" and "friend". It was a timely reminder that kindness is a choice and that at Old Trail, we choose to be kind!
