Our Performing Arts program provides multiple opportunities for our students to develop musically through the best of song literature, a variety of instruments and performance groups, high quality listening experiences, teaching skills, materials and activities sequenced the way children learn. Our low teacher/student ratio is beneficial for music students of all levels.
In the younger grades, small classes meet two to three times weekly to allow each child to sing, play instruments or perform. The curriculum offers strong integration of multi-cultural influences with an emphasis on music literacy.
Intermediate and Middle School students select from a wide variety of music electives and have performance opportunities throughout the year in band, orchestra and chorus. Classes include hand chimes, world drumming, stagecraft, musical production and more. Students in Grades 7 and 8 participate in community competitions (Ohio Music Education Association Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event and Honors Band and Choir.)
All students take field trips to see professional performances and private lessons are also available after school for interested students.
Middle School drama electives teach the fundamentals of acting such as following stage directions, interpreting and creating characters, and memorizing lines. The most important lessons taught in the class are life skills including effective communication, risk taking, and mental preparation/focus.
