Old Trail School inspires the best and brightest young people in our region. In an environment created for active learning, students explore, investigate and imagine. Our learning community fosters conversations and collaborations that encourage children to think independently. By placing emphasis not only on what to think, but also on how to think—our students become creative problem-solvers.
Our students master reading, writing and mathematics while also being taught to question, investigate and consider multiple perspectives before transforming their ideas into purposeful action. The Old Trail learning experience empowers students to think independently, manage change, and solve real-world challenges.
We embrace the concept of learning by doing. From tech lab to pottery studio to swimming pool, our students apply and test their learning and concepts in real-life situations, making for more stimulating experiences and deeper understanding.
We challenge students to look beyond themselves and become informed, responsible citizens of the world. Students learn to respect and appreciate cultural diversity through a breadth of classroom projects, world languages, visitors and presentations, and off-campus activities woven throughout our curriculum and learning environment.
Old Trail School was named a 2015 Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education in recognition of our commitment to environmental stewardship. Sustainability is incorporated into both our curriculum and operations. Through hands-on lessons, sustainable gardening and habitat restoration activities, students improve their school community as well as the world beyond our campus.
