Old Trail’s Read & Shine group is inspiring young readers to start their mornings with connection, curiosity and a love of storytelling.

Old Trail School students, teachers and families came together on Friday morning for the annual OTS Halloween Parade, a beloved tradition that celebrates the joy and imagination of our Old Trail community.

Our second graders recently enjoyed a refreshing taste of nature—literally! During Nature class, students gathered white pine needles from around campus and transformed them into homemade white pine soda.

We often talk about giving students the roots to grow and the wings to explore. Lydia Lockwood ’22 is a perfect example of that promise in action—and how it blossoms into meaningful work beyond our campus.

This year’s Mix in the Meadow was held on September 27 and once again brought parents, alumni and friends together for an evening of connection, celebration and community.

In their first math unit of the year, our kindergarten students have been using blocks, counters and other materials to represent numbers in a variety of meaningful ways. 

Our fifth graders recently took their learning beyond the classroom walls during their overnight trip to the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center (CVEEC). This immersive experience gave students the opportunity to study local ecosystems firsthand while deepening their understanding of the natural world.

Our first-ever Fall Festival was a joyful celebration of community, school spirit and the excitement of a new school year. The event brought together families, friends and faculty for an evening filled with fun, laughter and memorable moments.

This summer, Erin McNamara, Old Trail’s Director of Experiential & Nature-Based Learning, embarked on a remarkable professional journey to Aotearoa, New Zealand—an opportunity made possible by the John Bing Scholarship from the Institute for Global Learning (IGL).
